Marcella Lannoye, 70, Brendle's Bay near Parshall and formerly of Minot and Glenburn, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 in her residence.
Marcella was born June 22, 1942 in Coulter, Manitoba to Erick and Mabel (Peacock) Holstein.
She was raised on a farm and attended school in Tilston, Manitoba prior to graduating from Melita High School. She continued her education at the St. Andrews Hospital School of Nursing in Bottinueau and became a registered nurse in 1962. Marcella was once married to James Mathiason of Mohall.
Marcella married William Lannoye on September 26, 1992 in Glenburn. They made their home in Glenburn and later in Minot where she was employed at ManorCare Health Services and Trinity Nursing Home until she retired in 2007. Marcella and Bill moved to their lake home on Brendle's Bay of Lake Sakakawea near Parshall in May, 2011.
Marcella was a member of Hope Lutheran Church Glenburn and was an avid Minnesota Wild hockey fan. She especially enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking and fishing and was very proud of her Canadian heritage.
Her loving family includes her husband of 20 year William; children, Michelle (Chad) Simonson, Alexander, Mardelle (Barry) Buechler, Harvey, Stephanie (Sam) Striegel, Floyds Knobs, IN, Jacqueline Mathiason, Bloomington, MN, and Melanie (Allen) Hanson, Dassel, MN; stepson, Donald Lannoye, Winthrop, MN; 8 grandchildren, Sierra and Rope Simonson, Rachael and Andrea Buechler, Megan and Moriah Striegel, Zada and Gavin Hanson; brother Chuck (Audrey) Holstein, Simcoe, Ontario; Brother-in-law Michael Kufflick, Clear Lake, Manitoba and Simone (Robert) Holstein Hogan, Blackfalds, Alberta and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eunice Kufflick and Harry Holstein.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn.
Interment: 3:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation: Thursday, March 14, 2013 from noon until 3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot and from 4:30 p.m. until the start of the family service at 5:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn.
Memorials are preferred to North Dakota Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Autism Society of Minnesota.
