Obituary

Marcella Ellavoyne Irwin, 95, longtime Minot resident, died Saturday, September 21, 2019 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Marcella was born December 17, 1923 in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Gunder and Nellie (Hathaway) Livingston. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1941. She then furthered her education in Nurses training at St Joseph's and Trinity Hospital and later attended French's Business College in Minot. She became employed as a bookkeeper and audit clerk at Sear's Department Store and was also employed at Stevenson's Clothing Store as a cashier.

Marcella was united in marriage to Willard Irwin on January 16, 1944 in Minot. They made their home in Minot, before moving to Fargo to assist her husband in the ministry. They served a church in Harvey, Illinois for 10 years, where she assisted her husband as the music director and worked in Harvey as a nurse's assistant. They moved to Parshall, ND and served a church there until 1969, when they moved to Minot. She became employed as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Trinity Hospital until retiring in 1985. They moved to Albany, Oregon for a short time before returning to Minot in 1995. Willard died March 17, 2008.

Marcella was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Minot, where Willard had served as Pastor. She was a former member of the Minot Church of God and First Assembly of God Church, both of Minot. She was active in Music Ministry in Minot and had served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher throughout the years. She was also a member of a local TOPS Club. Marcella served as soloist and instrumentalist for weddings and funerals in Minot and surrounding areas for many years. When her eyesight diminished, she still continued to play and sing for the residents at Edgewood Vista and finally Trinity Nursing Home.

Her loving family includes: children, Gloria Moran, Jacksonville, FL and Delwin Irwin, Minot; grandchildren: Eric, Patrick and Shane Moran, Delwin Irwin Jr, Justin Irwin; great grandchildren: Alec Moran, Morgan Moran Carson, Madison Moran, Cole Irwin, Cody Jo; Great-Great Grandchild, Joselyn Moran; a number of nieces and nephews.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Willard; sisters, Bethana Porter, Mildred Livingston; brother, Burton Livingston; brother in law, Bernie Irwin.

Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in First Assembly of God Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, September 27th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: preferred to Teen Challenge which was very important to both Marcella and Willard.
