Mabel Albertson , 94, Minot, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 in her home.
Mabel was born August 22, 1926 in Minot, ND to Harvey 'Ray' and Estella (Benton) Myers. She was raised and educated in Tolgen and Shealy Township Schools of Ward County near Berthold, ND. Being the second oldest of 14 children, she assisted with the operation of the family farm and helped raise her younger siblings as a young adult.
Mabel was united in marriage to Gaillord Albertson on August 19, 1957 in Minot. They lived in Spring Lake Township of Ward County, located northeast of Douglas for a couple of years when they relocated to a farmstead near Surrey, ND in 1959. They lived there until 1961 when they returned to Spring Lake Township residing on the farm until 1974 when they moved to Max.
While in Max, Mabel worked at Debbie's Diner and was a cook for Max Public School for 18 years.
They decided to move to Norwich, ND in 2000, where they spent their time watching grandchildren, gardening, baking, and spending time with loved ones. Gaillord died on May 9, 2011.
Mabel had a heart for children, which lead to opening her home to many family members, foster children, and friends of the family. Mabel was a woman of faith first and loved to fellowship with her peers while attending Sawyer's Calvary Chapel, Minot's First Assembly of God, and Minot's First Church of the Nazarene in her lifetime. She enjoyed making lefse, crocheting, canning, reading, and valued the precious time spent with her family. Her favorite things to crochet were bells for her grandkids for Christmas, doilies for family and friends, and tablecloths for her kids' 25th anniversaries.
