Obituary

Lynn T. Martin, 76, rural Minot, died Monday, November 12, 2012 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Lynn was born July 1, 1936 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Henry and Naomi (Gunter) Martin. He was raised on the family farm near Des Lacs and graduated from Des Lacs High School in 1954. Lynn was very active in FFA, served as the School's Class President and was honored as the Jaycee's Outstanding Young Farmer & Rancher. He assisted with the operation of the family farm near Des Lacs during his younger years.

Lynn was once married to Sue Kivley in 1957. From this union four children were born; Jeff, Del Rae, Scott and Taunia. Lynn found his true calling, working the land as a farmer and rancher these past many years west of Minot. He was united in marriage to Carol Peterson on February 11, 1992. They have continued to live on the farm throughout the years.

Lynn was a lifetime member of the ND Stockman's Association, served as Secretary for the ND Hereford Association, vice-president of the ND Farm Bureau, Minot FFA Advisor, 4-H Member and leader, Farmer's Union member, Burt & Harrison Township School Board member, served on the Citizen's United to Save the Valley, member of the Minot Eagles and Moose Lodge and was a member of the Des Lacs Playmakers.

His hobbies included, restoring Model-A Trucks, gardening & landscaping, working in the shop, along with traveling.

His loving family includes, wife, Carol; children, Jeff (Lora) Martin, Minot, Del Rae Martin, Bismarck, Scott (Mary) Martin, Omaha, Neb, Taunia Martin, Bismarck; step-children, DeeAnn (Rod) Mertz, Largo, FL, Michele (Tony) Michlitsch, Mandan, Kelly (Shannon) Samson, Minot; brother, Bruce (Joyce) Martin, Des Lacs, ND; brother-in-law, Brian Peterson, of Dixon, MO; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wallace & Henry Jr, twin-sister, Delores Busch, an infant brother and brother-in-law, Larry Peterson.

Celebration of Life service : Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in New Life Lutheran Church, Minot.
I nterment : Rolling Green Cemetery, rural Des Lacs.
Visitation: At the request of family, friends may sign the memorial register book on Friday from 2:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, Rolling Green Cemetery, or an organization of the donor's choice.
