Obituary

L. 'Dolly' Alef, 77, Sun City, AZ formerly of Glenburn, ND died Sunday, December 2, 2012 in an assisted living facility in Youngtown, AZ.

Dolly was born February 27, 1935 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to August and Lucille (Nys) Beno. She grew up in Green Bay where she attended East High School graduating with the class of 1953. Following school she worked at Kraft Foods Company in Green Bay for a couple of years.

Dolly was united in marriage to Tony Alef in Green Bay on January 7, 1956. They made their home in various places throughout the US following Tony's service in the United States Air Force. They arrived at Minot Air Force Base in 1960, left four years later and returned a second time in 1967. In 1971, they moved to the community of Glenburn.

In addition to providing a loving home and raising her family, Dolly was an active member in the communities of Glenburn and Minot. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Glenburn, serving in various capacities on the church council and the WELCA group of the church. She was an EMT with the Glenburn Ambulance Service and also served as its treasurer/bookkeeper for many years. Dolly volunteered as an instructor of First Aid through the American Red Cross for the community. Later, she served as a volunteer for the Minot Air Force Base Optometry Clinic. Dolly was an active member of the Minot Hooterville Flion Lions Club, holding various positions over the years. At the state level, Dolly was the first Lady Lion District Governor in North Dakota & for her efforts, was the first Lady inducted into the North Dakota Lions Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband and had recently relocated to Sun City, Arizona.

Lucille's loving family includes husband of 56 years, Tony; children, Toni (Randy) Bach, Moorhead, MN, Terry (friend, Paula Schnurr) Alef, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Thomas (Sally) Alef, Maple Park, IL; grandchildren, Marty Alef, Omaha, NE, Sarah (Aaron) Caveglia, Rochester, NY, Grant Alef, Minneapolis, MN and Theresa Alef; sister, Jeanette Schaller, Tucson, AZ and brother, Edward (Lois) Beno, Green Bay, WI, Brother-in-law, Bill (Mary) Alef, Glenburn, ND; Sisters-in-law, Katherine Beno, Green Bay, WI, Helen Wilkins, Jackson, TN, Marian Collins, Montgomery, TX, Dorothy Kehler, Green Bay, WI and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother, Donald Beno, Brothers-in-law, Roland Kehler, MF Schaller and granddaughter, Rian Nichole Alef.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date TBA this coming spring, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND. At Dolly's request there will be no viewing.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND.
