Obituary

Lucile A. Bergeson , 81, Minot, formerly of Makoti, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 in a Minot hospital, with family at her side.

Lucile was born on July 1, 1935 to Frank and Alice (Dirkach) Pank in rural Makoti, ND. She was raised on the farm near Makoti, and went to a country school from age five through 8th grade. She graduated from Makoti High School in 1953.

Lucile was united in marriage to Melvyn Bergeson on July 1, 1953 in Minot. Throughout the years, they resided in rural Makoti, Odessa, WA for one year, then back in Minot, ND, where Lucile was employed at Victory Caf for two years. They moved to a farm in Orlien Township where they resided until 1962, when they moved to farm south of Des Lacs. After a five-year stay, they returned to the farm in Orlien Township where Lucile assisted on the family farmstead. They moved to Minot in 2010.

Blessed with children, Lucile delighted in her role as a mother and homemaker, taking pride in raising their seven wonderful children, whom she loved dearly.

Lucile was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti, where she taught Sunday school. She was active in community events, was a member of the Lund Homemaker's Club, past member of American Legion Auxiliary, Orlien Township Board, and served as a 4H judge.

Lucile enjoyed her collections including chickens, colored glassware, antiques, and angels. She enjoyed reading, baking and gardening. She loved to go fishing, especially on the Big Lake, where an old-timer saved her a spot, at Albert's Point. Lucile carried on her mother's love for flowers, growing numerous beautiful gardens, and passed that love on to her children, who now grow their own flower gardens. She (and the family) spent many hours searching for pretty rocks and built a lovely rock archway and wishing well in the yard. She was also talented at making beautiful bouquets to grace her table, and often entered them into flower shows. Most of all, Lucile loved the holidays which always included decorating, baking cookies and special treats, holiday meals and the precious times spent with her family.

Lucile's loving family includes her husband of 63 years, Melvyn, Minot; children: Kenneth (Marta Nelson) Bergeson, Gillette, WY, Debby (Jerry) Michels, Minot, Linda (Danny) Dyke, Plaza, Lonnie (Angie) Bergeson, Plaza, Carol (Terry) Hagan, Fargo, and Beth (Arlen) Patterson, Norwich; grandchildren, Eric Baar, Kelly Bergeson, Lisa, Amy and Kristin Michels, Michelle Guy and Dylan Dyke, Matthew and Luke Bergeson and Natasha Fuhrman, and Carrie, Arlen and Travis Patterson; great-grandchildren, Elena, Bennett and Emma Yellowbird, Weylin Nelson, Dryden Michels, Decklan Dyke and Mia Bergeson; sister, Mabel Washack, Illinois; sister-in-law, Joyce Pank, Makoti and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
