Lowell Roger Shubert, 75, lifelong South Prairie area farmer and rancher died on Saturday at his home.
Lowell was born on September 19, 1934 in Minot to Gust and Anne (Wadeson) Shubert. He was reared on the family farm. Lowell attended rural schools in that area and graduated from Minot High School. As a young adult he assisted his parents with the operation of the family farm. Following his father's death he assumed responsibility for the farm and cattle.
Lowell was a member of the Freedom Township Board, Ward County Wheat Board, Farmers Union Oil and Elevator Boards, Minot Rrural Fire Department Advisory Board, Verendrye Electric Co-op Member Advisory Committee and NRA. His hobbies and special interests included hunting, reading especially the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and History and World News. He was a good neighbor who enjoyed talking on the telephone and was always late for special occasions. He loved the outdoors working with his cattle and cattle dog Stubby. He enjoyed working with his hands in his shop, from his press to his lathe he would make a lot of his own parts.
Lowell is survived by his aunt , Louise Johnson of Elbow Lake MN and cousins, Charlene, Doris, Orville and Joyce.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Service:
Monday, May 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Visitation:
Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
