Loseal Kilene, 92, longtime Berthold area resident, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Loseal was born September 30, 1920 at New Effington, South Dakota, the daughter of Vernon and Laura (Vollmers) Knight. She was raised at Sisseton and moved with her family to Berthold when she was ten years old. The family moved to Oregon, where she graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1938. They returned to Berthold the next year. She was employed with Boeing and later at the Ft. Peck Hotel in Montana as the dining room manager.

Loseal was united in marriage to Elmer Kilene on August 5, 1945 at Berthold. They made their home on a farm Southeast of Berthold in Mandan Township, where they raised their four children and farmed throughout the years until retiring in 1994. They continued to live on the farm until 2000, when Elmer died on November 13, 2000. Loseal moved into Edgewood Vista in Minot that same year, where she resided for four years. She has lived the past several years at Trinity Homes.

Loseal was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, where she was active with the ladies group there. She enjoyed baking, especially breads. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Her loving family includes , children, Dennis (Donna) Kilene, Warwick, RI, Bryce (Sherie) Kilene, Apple Valley, MN, Keith (Carol) Kilene, Berthold and Sheila (Dennis) Slezak, Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, David Kilene, John Kilene, Micah Slezak, Austin Kilene and Jenna Kilene; great-granddaughter, Emma Kilene; sisters, Eileen Olson, Las Vegas, NV, Leatrice (Floyd) Stockdill, Velva and Shirley (Walter) Singer, Turtle Lake, ND; several nieces and nephews.

Loseal was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law, Harold Olson.

Funeral service : Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold.
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold.
Visitation: Sunday from noon-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Berthold Ambulance or an organization of the donor's choice.
