Obituary

Lorraine Ann Meyer, 78, 804 Central Avenue West, Minot, died Thursday, August 17, 2006, in her home.

Lorraine was born November 20, 1927, in Butte, ND, to Sam and Mary (Siroshton) Lakoduk. She was raised on a farm in McLean County, near Butte and attended school in Butte. Lorraine moved to Minot in her early twenties, where she was employed by Bell Telephone as an operator for a time.

Lorraine began employment at Minot Steam Laundry in 1950. It was there she would find the love of her life, Theodore Meyer Jr. They were united in marriage on September 7, 1951, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where they would raise four daughters. Lorraine devoted her life to caring for her husband and children.

Together, Lorraine and Ted were involved in many organizations in Minot. In their younger years, they enjoyed traveling together and spending numerous hours gardening. Lorraine loved sewing and would make many of the garments that she wore. Yet, nothing could come close to the joy they shared in spending time with their grandchildren. Ted died on February 12, 1996. Over the years, Lorraine shared a fascination of words and their meanings and could often be found looking up words in the dictionary and quizzing everyone on their meanings. She was an avid watcher of all the news programs and enjoyed talking to everyone about current events. She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

She is survived by: Daughters: Cheryl (Rick) Hanson, Susan (Wayne) Whorley, Joan (DuWayne) Moe, and Linda Meyer, all of Minot; Grandchildren: Craig (Melissa) Hanson, Blake Hanson, Chris Whorley, Suzie Whorley, Wayne Whorley Jr., Karen Thompson, Ashley (Josh) Grooms, and Michelle Sack; Sister, Dorothy Nygard, Minot; Brother: Eddie (Gladys) Lakoduk, Minnesota; and numerous nieces, newphews, and cousins.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Alvin, Roy, Alfred, and Ralph Lakoduk.
