Lorna J. Luehe , 78, Minot, formerly of Towner, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Lorna was born March 14, 1931 at Towner, ND, the daughter of Albert and Lydia (Hanson) Anderson. She graduated from Towner High School in 1949, and continued her education at Minot State College. In 1952, she graduated with a teaching degree in Elementary Education and began her teaching career at Roosevelt and McKinley Elementary Schools in Minot.
She was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Luehe on August 16, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Towner. They made their home in Minot, where she continued teaching until 1960, when she left her career to become a homemaker and raise their children.
In 1969, Lorna made the decision to assist her husband in the operation of the family business, the Hertz Rent-a-car franchise. They retired in 1999. Dick died September 17, 2007.
Lorna was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active with the Women's Circle group and did volunteer work for the Hostfest stand and made pies for the State Fair. She was proud to be a Towner Cardinal and looked forward to all the Towner All-School Reunions.
She enjoyed traveling to California to visit her sister, Delores and her family. She also enjoyed the numerous trips to Minneapolis to visit grandchildren and go on shopping excursions. Lorna was a devoted mother, who was always there with an open heart and mind for her three children. Her life was truly blessed and fulfilled by her four grandchildren, whom she cherished every day.
Her loving family includes : Children, Rian (Carla) Luehe, Minot, Mary (Sydney) Hove, Minot, and Ann (Doug) Steen, Eden Prairie, MN; Grandchildren, Matthew, Jillian, Lily, Andrew, Cody and Kiah; Sister, Delores (Richard) Anderson, Copperopolis, CA; nephews, Brian & Craig, Doreen, Anita & Avery.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Dick.
Funeral service
: Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation
: Monday from 4:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. At the request of the family, there will be no reviewal at the Church.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Education Program.
