Lorna G. Ash, 66, Granville and formerly of New Market, MN died on Friday, February 25, 2011 in a Minot hospital.

Lorna Larson was born July 18, 1944, the daughter of Elmo and Bernie (Jamtgaard) Larson in Washburn, ND. She attended high school in Washburn, graduating in 1962. Lorna attended hair school in Fargo at St. Joseph's School of Hair Design.

Lorna was united in marriage to Mylon Ash on February 24, 1963 in Washburn, ND. Lorna and her late husband were entrepreneurs and fit its definition better than most. They loved the excitement of promoting a new product or service and the chance to impact a community. Their last adventure was a used car dealership in Lakeville, MN.

She loved to give to others and was always looking for a way to do so. The Ash tradition was to identify a family each Christmas to help, often anonymously. However, this generosity that so defined her knew no season. Often a piece of furniture or other item of need would be packed up and shipped out to someone whose need was greater.

Lorna loved a good bargain and her life reflected that. Items found, whether garage saling or thrift store hunting, were not the treasures of her life. Instead, Lorna could often be found showing off pictures or telling stories of her grandchildren and great granddaughter. All of these qualities, will be missed, but remembered fondly by all who shared in her life.

Her loving family includes: Daughters Miriam (Jeff) Smette, Granville, and Michelle (Bruce Schweich), Farmington; Grandchildren Ashley Smette, Elise Schweich (fiancee Jared Stewart), Shalee Schweich, and Mitchell Smette; Great Grandchild Victoria Stewart. Sisters Sandra (Arden) Wagner & Berna Jo (Michael) Kidd; Aunt Jean Gentz.

Lorna was preceded in death by: her husband, Mylon; parents; grandson, Quinn Schweich and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Lorna's Life on Monday, February 28, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Granville, ND

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the RSVP+ North Central ND, 307 5th Avenue SE Suite 301, Minot ND 58701.

Another Celebration of Life will be held at a date this summer in Minnesota.
