Loren
Guidinger
Oct 9, 1947 — Jul 26, 2026
Minot
Loren Guidinger of Minot, formerly of Lansford, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at his home on July 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old.
Loren was born on October 9, 1947, in Kenmare, North Dakota, to Lyle and Muriel (Undlin) Guidinger. In 1951, his family moved to Minot, where he attended school and later graduated from Minot Model High School. Loren had a love for sports and excelled in athletics throughout his school years. It was during high school that he met the love of his life, Cheryl Nettleton. Following graduation, he attended Minot State College, earning a degree in Biology in 1969.
On August 8, 1969, Loren and Cheryl were united in marriage in Minot. Together, they began their married life in Carpio, North Dakota, where Cheryl accepted a teaching position with the Carpio School System. Loren started his career with Texaco Oil in Minot, but his passion for farming never faded. Determined to make agriculture his life's work, he purchased a farm near Lansford and, in 1976, moved his growing family there to begin a full-time farming career. Farming was more than a profession for Loren—it was a way of life that he embraced and enjoyed throughout his entire life.
Loren was deeply devoted to his family and took great pride in watching future generations grow. Whether attending activities, sharing stories, or offering encouragement and wisdom, he treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
Loren is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Cheryl; sons Guy (Kara) Guidinger and their children, Jadyn and Kya; and Grant (Jennifer) Guidinger and their children, Hudson and Quinn. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Linda) Guidinger; sister-in-law, Alice (Michael) Knoop; niece Alison (Ron) Mendelsohn; nephew Scot (Natalie) Knoop; and niece Lindsey (Mike) Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Muriel Guidinger; father- and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Geneva Nettleton; sister and brother-in-law, Adell and Larry Lium; and nephew Joel Lium.
Public Visitation: Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. All family and friends are welcome.
In accordance with Loren's wishes, a private family service and burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens near Minot.
Loren had a special farewell for his grandchildren whenever it was time to part ways: "Auf Wiedersehen." To him, it was never goodbye, but rather, "until we meet again."
Loren will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, his love of farming, his devotion to family, and the kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength he shared with all who knew him.
Auf Wiedersehen, Loren. Until we meet again.
In Loren’s memory, memorials are preferred to Trinity Cancer Care of Minot or Trinity United Church in Lansford.
