Obituary

Lois Marie White, 81, Minot, died Monday, April 18, 2016 in a Minot nursing home. She passed away peacefully with her children by her side following a six year battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Lois was born April 12, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN to Fred and Irene (Ferry) George. Her mother passed away at an early age. She moved to Minot with her father in 1945. Lois attended St. Leo's Elementary School and graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1953 as salutatorian of her class. She graduated from Trinity Hospital School of X-Ray Technology in 1958.

Lois was united in marriage to Donald J. White on September 26, 1959 at St. Leo's Catholic Church. They made their home at 1352 Tuxedo Road where they raised their four children. Lois was employed by Trinity Medical Center for more than 32 years as a radiologic technologist, instructor, department manager, and physician liaison. She was instrumental in establishing Trinity's mammography program and was a breast cancer survivor herself. Donald died on October 29, 1986. After retiring in 1997, Lois enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, travelling, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Minnesota Twins/Vikings fan and cheered on many teams at Bishop Ryan High School and Minot State University. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2010, Lois moved to Edgewood Vista. In February of 2014, she moved to 3 South of Trinity Homes where she resided until her passing.

Lois was a long-time member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Eagles Auxiliary. She was also well known in the bowling communities throughout the state. Her passion for the sport started at an early age when she helped her father operate Minot's first bowling alley. Her many bowling achievements include winning the North Dakota Queens Tournament four times and being a five time winner of the North Dakota State scratch all-events tournament. In 1981, Lois was inducted into the North Dakota Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame for superior performance.

Lois had a wide circle of friends, a successful career, and tremendous love for her family. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Lois' loving family includes: children, Rob (Kathleen) White, Dawn (Paul) Rubbelke and Marcia (Paul) Beck all of Minot and Karen (Julie) Geissman-White of San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren, Kelsey and Jordan Rubbelke, Sarah and Emily White, Joshua and Jared Beck, and Grace and Maya Geissman-White; brother-in-law, Robert E.
