Obituary

Lois Ann Rick, 60, Minot, died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her home.

Lois was born June 28, 1955, in Imperial, NE to Albert and Frieda (Kain) Shipman. She moved with her family to Flaxton, ND in December of 1957, as they followed the oil boom to the region. She was raised and educated in Flaxton, graduating with the class of 1973.

After high school, Lois moved to Jamestown, ND where she worked as a CNA at the State Hospital. She was united in marriage to Duane Sederquest on September 27, 1975 in Williston, where they made their home until moving to Bowbells. They were later divorced Lois worked at Farmer's United COOP Elevator in Bowbells as a bookkeeper. It was through her job where she met Jim Rick, who managed the elevator. Their relationship carried them to Minot in the late 1980's. Lois began working at Northern Tier Federal Credit Union as a collection supervisor until she joined MLT. More recently she was employed at Trinity Hospital as a billing analyst for home health and hospice.

Lois and Jim were joined in marriage on August 1, 1998 in a dual ceremony with Warren and Becky Howell in Minot. The ceremony was beautiful. When the Pastor asked Lois if she took Warren to be her wedded husband, Lois had to tell the Pastor that she was marrying Jim.

VTwin Performance was born in 2000. Together, Lois and Jim have operated the business that is a staple of the motorcycle drag racing community in Minot and around the country. Lois served as crew chief, which involved every aspect of the sport that included preparation of the bike, rider and the event. She also 'mothered' many of the other teams, sponsored by VTwin, making sure everything was in position for their drive to make that perfect run.

This passion was rewarded in 2005 as she was honored as the Dakota Flatrack Crew Chief of the Year. Jim and Lois had many successes throughout the years in racing. 2006 saw them as track champions. In 2013 and 2014 they placed first in the Super Gas Division in Sturgis during Bike Week.

In addition to her passion for racing and motorcycles, Lois was an avid bowler in her younger years. She enjoyed this sport with her family. Traveling was also an enjoyment, however, the routes she and Jim took were often planned around helmet wearing restrictions. She was a member of Pittsburgh Steeler Nation taking every chance to cheer them on to victory on Sundays. Lois was the organizer of the annual "Casino Run" in memory of her mother.

Her favorite canine companion was Mick Rick. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.
