Lois Barbara Markle , 93, Fargo, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in a Fargo care center.
Lois was born June 20, 1932 in Minot, ND, to John and Edna (Ofsthun) Lee. She was born and raised in the Ruthville area until the age of ten when the family moved to Minot and she graduated from Minot High School in 1950.
Lois was united in marriage to Orlo Markle on November 27, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN. While Orlo was employed as a trucker and crane operator, they lived in Minot, Bismarck and then settled in Burlington in 1956.
Orlo died on July 3, 2001. She continued to reside in Burlington until moving to Fargo in 2011.
Lois was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington where she enjoyed volunteering for their various activities and events. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and puzzles. She loved working at Walmart where she was employed for over 20 years.
Lois is survived by her children Terry (Julie) Markle, Minot, Roxane (Tom) Crawford, Fargo and Dennys Flammang, Everett, WA, grandchildren Jon (Denise) Markle, Steven (Roseline) Markle, Amy (Elliot) Culp, Kelly (Casey Foster) Crawford, Matthew (Ashley) Crawford, Carmen Sylvester, Jeff Flammang and Rick Flammang, great-grandchildren Wyatt, Walter, Rachel, Anders, Addison, Weston, Samantha, Jamie Sousa, Michelle and Carmen, great-great-grandchild Aleli Aolani, siblings Joan Heuer, Casper, WY, Carol Lee and Patricia Gauthier, both of Mesa, AZ, best friend Mildred Lochthowe, Minot along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orlo, stepdaughter Rita Sylvester, step grandson Jim Sylvester, sisters Joyce Lee and Cora Anderson and brother Robert Lee.
A sincere thank you to the staff at Fargo Elim Care Center for all your care and love for Lois.

11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington. A recording of the service, available October 16th, may be viewed by accessing

Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation:
Tuesday, October 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
