Lois Sylvia Hamilton, 85, Lake Metigoshe, ND, and formerly of Minot, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
Lois was born April 2, 1929 at Aurelia, North Dakota, the oldest of three children to Harold and Lorna (Lytle) Lawson. She graduated from Glenburn High School in 1947 and attended Minot State College, where she received a standard teaching certificate. She then taught for a short time at rural schools near Glenburn and Maxbass.
Lois was united in marriage to James J. Hamilton on February 23, 1952 at Minot. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their family. In the 1980's, they retired to their lake home at Lake Metigoshe where they have since lived. Lois loved the lake and had many friends there.
Lois is survived: by her husband of 62 years, James Hamilton, Lake Metigoshe, children, Debra (John) of Minnesota, Patricia (Dale) Tinjum, Powers Lake, James W. (Candy) Hamilton, Minot, Michael (Sue) Hamilton, Minot; grandchildren, Amanda, Phillip, Jennifer, James, Jordan and Jessie; brother, David (Gayle) Lawson, Minot; numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carole.
At the request of the family, there will not be a service. However, friends may sign a memorial register book on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 3:00-6:00 in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Private Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Bottineau Ambulance Service or organization of the donor's choice.
