Lois Ann Gabel , 88, Minot, died Friday, October 9, 2020 in a Velva care center.

Lois was born July 13, 1932 in Crosby, ND to Elmer and Laura (Bjerken) Benter. She grew up and received her education in Crosby, graduating from Crosby High School in 1950.

She spent her working years employed by JC Penney in an office position in Crosby until moving to Minot in 1963. She retired as Personnel Supervisor in 1998 after more than 40 years with the company.

Lois was once married to Edville Gabel. They were blessed with three children.

Lois attended Christ Lutheran Church and was a member of the Eagles Aerie and the Homemaker's Club. She volunteered at Trinity Hospital in the gift shop for many years. Lois enjoyed a good book, word search puzzles, along with knitting and baking.

Lois is survived by her sons, Bruce Gabel, Minot, Brian (Lynne) Gabel, Lake Kiowa, TX and Brad (Tracy) Gabel, Joliet, MT; sisters Shirley Peterman, Crosby, ND, Donna Looman, and Dorene Anderson, both of Miles City, MT; grandchildren Audrey (Wade) Williamson, Scott Gabel, Lindsey Gabel, Amber Gabel and Steven Gabel; great-grandchildren Kailey, Rielee and Ashlee Williamson and Shaleen Griffey along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Clarence and Robert Benter, sister Alice Shefstad, daughter-in-law Joyce Gabel, granddaughter, Marcy Huntress and brother-in-law Harvey Peterman.

Private Family Service to Remember Lois: 1:00 p.m. October 24, 2020 at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Family and friends are invited to sign a memorial register book on October 23, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the ND Chapters of the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
