Obituary

Lois "Lollipop" Billehus, 79, Minot, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in a Minot rehab facility.

Lois was born March 2, 1938, in Minot, ND to Johnny and Helen (Hegle) Johnson. She was educated in Minot. As a young woman, she was employed at Mitchell's Diner as a waitress while raising her nephews due to her sister's death.

Lois was united in marriage to Gene Billehus December 30, 1965, in Minot. Following their marriage, they made their home in Minot, where she provided in-home daycare to many families for many years. Lois served as a caregiver for senior citizens in her later years prior to retiring in 2000. She was a very caring and giving person and her door was always open to anyone in need.

Gene passed away on June 17, 2004. She became a resident of Minot Health and Rehab in 2007.

Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot and served as a PTA volunteer. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved to entertain family and friends who were blessed with her cooking and baking skills over the years.

Lois had a special bond with her grandchild, Hannah. They spent many hours playing cards, games and baking. She most recently adored spending time with her great-granddaughter Lana.

Her surviving family includes her children, Marla (Matthew) Gefroh and Brent Billehus, both of Minot, ND; granddaughter, Hannah (fianc Kolby Iverson) Gefroh; great-grandchildren, Lana Iverson and baby boy Iverson due in November; nephew whom she raised, Cary (Laurel) Lindstrom of Reno, NV; sister in law, Mona Johnson and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene; sisters, Gloria Lindstrom and Carol Swinson; brothers, Charles, James and Harlan Johnson and nephews, John and Galen Lindstrom.

Funeral Service: Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Lesje Cemetery, Souris, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Lesja Church.
