Lois Virginia Behrens , 80, Minot, died Friday, July 3, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.
Lois was born March 5, 1929 in Big Fork, Montana to Glen and Myrtle (Jackson) Howe. She was reared and educated in Kalispell, MT and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1947. As a young adult, she continued her education at a beauty school and was employed in a local variety store and at an F.W. Woolworth Company store all in Kalispell.
Lois married Mervin Behrens on May 16, 1948 in Kalispell and they resided in Winnebago, MN for a short time. They moved to Minot in 1949, where she was employed by the Woolworth's Department Store. In addition to raising two children, she was employed as a waitress and cashier at the Minot Elks Lodge for more than thirty-four years. Mervin died on November 4, 1985. Lois retired in 1987 and continued to reside in Minot on California Drive.
Lois was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Royal Neighbors of American and Women of the Moose and American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered her time to assist the Minot Convention and Visitors Center and Hostfest and she enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and puzzles.
Her loving family includes her children: Sylvia Behrens, Minot and Carl Behrens, Boundary Lake, ND; grandchildren: Orlin Murie and Kimberly (Jack) Vermillion-Wright; great grandchildren: Zane Wright, Andrew and Tristan Murie.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Everett Howe.

Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation
: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church.
