Obituary

Lloyd Dwaine Mitchell, 84, longtime Minot resident and former owner of Mitchell's Hardware Hank Store died on Sunday in a Minot healthcare center.

Lloyd was born on August 7, 1930 in Minot to Allan and Irene (Hovey) Mitchell. He was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1949. As a young adult he was employed as a mail carrier who delivered mail from Minot to Watford City, by a local auto dealership delivering cars and by Buckingham Trucking Company.

Lloyd married Mary Doran on January 14, 1962 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where he assisted his parents with the operation of the local Hardware Hank Store. He and his wife joined them in the ownership of the hardware store prior to a new store being built on Highway 2 &52 East. Following the sale of the hardware store in 1972, Lloyd owned and operated Mitchell Transfer. He was employed by local trucking companies prior to his retirement in 1992. He and Mary had spent the winter months for eighteen years in Mesa, AZ and the summer months at Strawberry Lake. He had resided at ManorCare Health Services for the past four years.

Lloyd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Eagles Aerie and Moose Lodge all in Minot as well as the Teamster's Union Local. He was a former member of the Colin Brown Y's Men's Club and the YMCA. He especially enjoyed traveling and fishing.

Lloyd's loving family includes his wife of 52 years Mary; children: Machelle Langseth (Allen MacArthur) of Chandler AZ and Vicki (John) Rovenko of Minot; four grandchildren: Julie and Brent (Kateri) Langseth and Jessica and Julia Rovenko; three great grandchildren: Luke and Micaela Langseth and Stephanie Errett and numerous cousins.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Celebration of the Life of Lloyd Mitchell: Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
