Obituary

Lloyd E. Faydo, 78, Minot passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in a Minot hospital with his loving family and pastor at his side.

Lloyd was born on September 20, 1937 in Minot to Steve and Alice (Kronberg) Faydo. He was baptized on December 14, 1938 and confirmed on May 13, 1951 both at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1955. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in June of 1955 and served as a radio and telegraph operator until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant on April 10, 1959. He had received a Good Conduct Medal during his military service. He returned to Minot where he was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Lloyd married Shirley Wehmhoefer on September 3, 1960 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot where he continued with BN Railway prior to accepting a letter carrier position with the United States Postal Service in Minot. After completely remodeling his home in Minot, the Flood of 1969 and subsequent flood threats the family moved to a home Lloyd built (southeast) Minot. He added many new features including decks, swimming pools and flower gardens. Following a thirty year career with the U.S.P.S. he retired.

Lloyd was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he was involved as an usher and a church officer. He had many interests including gardening, canning, fishing, cooking, camping and horseshoes. He enjoyed teasing his granddaughters and long phone conversations with his son about sports and life in general as well as cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and being on his "soap box" telling stories. He taught his only son to be a respectful and responsible man. Lloyd was known for his hot chili and his love of life!

Lloyd's loving family includes his wife of 55 years Shirley; son: Mark (Bobbie) Faydo of Maple Grove MN; granddaughters: Ashley and Courtney Faydo of Maple Grove , MN; brother: Duane (Kitty) Faydo of Minot; sister: Diane (Steve) Heier of Fargo; sisters-in-law: Leona (Jean) Robinson of Bismarck, Ruby (Fred) Black of Aloha OR, Jan Wehmhoefer (David Hansen) of Washington UT and Cindy (Lonnie) Mettler of Walla Walla WA; brothers-in-law: Jerry Wehmhoefer of Smyrna GA and Rick (Gail) Wehmhoefer of Deadwood SD and several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Phyllis Kohanski.

Funeral Service: Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
