Lillian May "Suz" Solberg, 89, lifelong Minot resident and longtime medical records administrator died on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in a Minot hospital.
Lillian was born on February 19, 1922 in Minot to Oscar and Christine (Narmo) Bakke. She was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1940. She attended the Minot College of Business and received specialized training through self study in medical record- keeping. She became a registered medical records administrator after completing a special examination in 1946.
Lillian served as the medical records administrator of Trinity Hospital from 1941 until 1946 and served in that same capacity as well as the librarian at Northwest Clinic from 1946 until 1968. She returned to Trinity Hospital where she worked until her retirement in 1984.
Lillian married Morris W. Solberg on February 20, 1972 and resided at her home in Minot and his farm home northeast of Minot. They were able to spend much of their 12 years of marriage traveling, entertaining family and friends and enjoying each other's company. Morris died on July 10, 1984. Lillian lived in the same NE Minot home for 84 years.
Lillian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Hannah Circle and was the first secretary of the Western North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. She was an active volunteer of the Trinity Hospital Auxiliary and Minot Public Library and was a member of Zonta International, Y.W.C.A., Elkettes, Sweet Adelines and Minot Public School Foundation. She especially enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling, crossword puzzles, embroidery and playing piano. Also, she enjoyed attending Minot Symphony Orchestra concerts and International Artist Series community concerts.
Lillian's survivors include her sister Edna Danielson of Williston and nephews and niece: Carl (Deb) Danielson, Lincoln, NE, Paul (Marilyn) Danielson, White Bear Lake, MN, Cathy Danielson (Bob Cordova), Bismarck, along with several other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law: Carl Danielson.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Association, American Heart Association and Trinity Health Foundation for Trinity Auxiliary.
