Lillian Mettler, 95, Upham and Minot, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 in a Colorado Spring, CO Nursing Home.

Lillian was born April 24, 1921 at Eckman, ND, the daughter of Fredrick and Katherine (Kriez) Schepp. She was raised and educated at Newburg, ND and attended country schools in that area. After her education she worked for nearby farm families.

Lillian was united in marriage to Reuben Mettler on October 6, 1940 at Upham, ND. They made their home at Reuben's family's farmstead near Upham, where they farmed and raised their two sons throughout the years. They moved to Oregon for a short time, where she was employed as a cook at a restaurant. They returned to Upham and she was employed as a housekeeper for the residents at the Minot Air Force Base. Reuben died on April 26, 1997. Lillian moved to Minot following his death and to Colorado Springs in 2003.

Lillian was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot, where she was involved with bible study groups and did volunteer work for the Church.

Lillian's family includes, sons, Gerald (Pat) Mettler, Vancouver, WA, Arvon (Judy) Mettler, Minot; 3 grandchildren to include: Heidi (Marcus) McKindra; Ty (Mary) Mettler; Loni (Todd) Adams; and 12 great grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Reuben, sisters, Esther, Alvina, Geneva & Tillie; brothers, John, Henry, Alvin, Edward, Fred and Albert.

Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Peace Reformed Cemetery, Upham, ND.
Visitation: Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorial Service in Colorado: Salvation Army Chapel in Colorado Springs, CO at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
