Obituary

Lila D. Fannik, 92, Max, ND died Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in the Garrison Hospital.

Lila Dorraine was born April 21, 1927 near Douglas, ND in Spring Lake Township to Carl and Olive (Johnson) Johnson. She received her elementary education in country schools and graduated from Douglas High School in 1946. Lila attended North Western Bible College in Minneapolis, MN.

Lila was united in marriage to George Fannik on September 7, 1947 in Max, ND. They made their home on a farmstead north of Max in Rushville Township for the next 46 years. Lila was a dedicated wife and loving mother to her children. They moved into Max in August of 1993 and George passed away in November 1993. Lila continued to be invested in her community, where she taught Sunday School and worked with child evangelism for many years.

Lila was a member and held many leadership positions in the Max Baptist Church, Sunnyslope Homemakers Group, Baptist Mission Society, Farmer's Union Youth, Women's Christian Temperance Union and 4-H over the years. She enjoyed baking, traveling, quilting, crocheting but most of all the company of family and friends when they stopped to visit.

Lila is survived by her children Virginia Sides, Stockbridge GA, Carolyn Barden, Max, ND and Dennis (Karla) Fannik, Max, ND; grandchildren Sarah (Christopher) Silvia, Will Barden, Shawna Schroeder (Samuel Dauphinais), Casey (Samantha) Fannik, Kristi (Christopher) Reece and Braden (Pam Cooper) Barden; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sisters Lorna Sambor, Max and Phyllis Narum, Douglas, ND along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter Marjorie Ruth, grandson Christopher Sides, sisters Mathilda Convoy, Evelyn Meronuck and Margaret Scurlock and sons-in-law, Robert Barden and Harold Sides.

Celebration of Lila's Life: 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Our Redeemer's Church, Minot.
Interment: Max Baptist Cemetery, rural Max, ND
Visitation: Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to organizations of the donor's choice.
