Leslie Cecil "Les" Morgan , 63, 811 Hiawatha St., Minot, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 in a Minot hospital.
Les was born October 15, 1943, in Montrose, CO to Glen and Thelma (Pollard) Morgan. He was raised and educated in Kansas and Missouri before moving to Iowa in 1959. Les earned his GED while serving in the military. As a young adult he was employed by farmers in Washington, before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force on December 25, 1962. He served for twenty-four years at air force bases near Spokane, WA; Rapid City, SD; Myrtle Beach, SC, and in Kansas, Puerto Rico and Vietnam prior to being stationed at Minot Air Force Base in 1976. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1986.
Les was united in marriage to Lola Segraees on August 22, 1964, in Spokane. They made their home on a farmstead in Eureka Township north of Minot for many years. Lola died on September 3, 1994.
Les enjoyed reading, traveling, working on his hobby farm, and doing mechanical work, especially on vehicles.
Les was a member of the Eagles Aerie, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the 821st Red Horse Equipment Squadron.
Surviving family includes: Sons: Anthony "Tony" Morgan, Minot, Charlie (Jean) Morgan, Moorhead, MN; Grandchildren: Samantha and Jonny Morgan; Siblings: Glen Morgan of Starbuck WA, Jackie Morgan of Rapid City, SD; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister: Ada Morgan, brother: Lonnie Morgan; and son: Jerry Morgan.
Funeral:
Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation:
Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to the Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial in Minot.
