Leslie 'Bud' Fletcher , 87, Minot, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 in a Fargo hospital.
Leslie N. 'Bud' Fletcher was born August 23, 1930 in Clitherall, MN, to Neil and Edna (Curtis) Fletcher. The family moved to Hibbing, MN, where he attended Junior and Senior High school. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1947. After basic training he spent 38 months in Tokyo, Japan as a draftsman in FEAF HQ during the Korean War. In August 1951 he returned to the US, and was stationed at Warren AFB Cheyenne, WY. He was honorably discharged September 1, 1951.
In 1953, he married "His first wife", Roberta Pixley, of Bear River, MN. In 1954, he attended De Vry Technical Institute in Chicago, Ill., where he trained as an Electronic Technician. He worked for several TV Shops in Northern Minnesota, before moving his family to Minot, ND where he opened a wholesale electronic parts business, which evolved into Team Electronics. He and his wife, Roberta, worked side by side, running Team Electronics until 1990. Other businesses he owned were Team Electronics, Williston, ND, a Seismic drilling operation and X-It Liquor store. He loved business, his customers, employees and his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant a great deal to him. He always wanted to know how they were and what was happening in their lives. He only offered advice, if asked.
Humor was his trademark and he could find it even the most somber of situations. He easily made fun of himself and whatever was occurring. He followed sports extensively, including baseball, hockey, and golf. He was an avid Twins fan, especially when they were winning. He was always present when his boys had a hockey or baseball game.
He had an impressive woodworking shop and spent many hours designing and building interesting useful projects to share with family and friends. A stroke in 2008 robbed him of the ability to continue this hobby, but he never lost his sense of humor.
In recent years he enjoyed his "McDonalds" family, where he spent countless hours drinking coffee and sharing conversation with whoever came in.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, VFW, Moose Lodge and Minot Eagles.
