LeRoy Haugeberg, 73, Minot, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 in a Minot hospital.
LeRoy was born February 17, 1939, in Minot, ND to Oliver and Emma (Newman) Haugeberg. He grew up on the family farmstead and finished his education with the Minot High School Class of 1958.
He began his career with John Deere as a mechanic in 1959. LeRoy was united in marriage to Phoebe Stute on June 5, 1960 in Mercer, ND. They made Minot their home until LeRoy was drafted into the US Army on May 10, 1962. He was stationed in Kansas and served in Germany until his honorable discharge on May 8, 1964.
Following his discharge, they returned to Minot and he resumed his employment at John Deere working his way to into the parts department and eventually sales. He remained with the company through various transitions and transferred to the dealership in Berthold until health issues led to his retirement in 1989.
LeRoy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, where he served as an usher. He also carried past memberships to the Elks and Moose Lodge, both of Minot. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, playing cards on the computer, spending time with his grandchildren and was a very talented woodworker. He also looked forward to spoiling and napping with his furry friend, Jack, every day.
His loving family includes loving wife of 52 years, Phoebe, Minot, children, Kristi (Wade) Christianson, Minot and Kathy (Terry) Hovde, Ryder, ND; grandchildren, Casey Christianson, Jennifer Christianson, Calvin Hovde and Russell Hovde; brothers, Lyman (Dorothy) Haugeberg, Bismarck, ND, Gerald (Jill) Haugeberg, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Bruce (Patsy) Haugeberg, Minot, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Carson Hovde.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, The National Kidney Association, or to the American Lung Association.
