Leonard Pope, 77, Minot, passed away on the morning of Monday, October 18, 2010, at his home.

Leonard was born June 6, 1933 in Minot, ND to Harry and Agnes (Luchenko) Popow. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1951. He joined the US Navy in 1952 and received an honorable discharge in 1956. Leonard was married to Delores Beck on June 6, 1958. He graduated in 1962 from Minot State Teachers College with a degree in Business Administration.

He was employed by the Great Northern Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for over 40 years. He was transferred to Grand Forks in 1968 and returned to Minot in 1981. Leonard retired in Minot as a Mechanical Supervisor with the Railroad in 1991.

Leonard's three grandchildren were the love of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family that includes: wife of fifty-two years, Delores; son, Mark, daughter-in-law, Delrae; grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda and Austin, all living in Sacramento, CA; a nephew, nieces and cousins.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Agnes, brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Ingrid Pope.

Funeral service : Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation : Thursday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Hospice, the American Cancer Society or an organization of the donor's choice.
