Leonard James "Bud" Ostdahl, 76, Minot, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 in a Minot nursing home.

Leonard was born April 3, 1938 in Stanley, North Dakota the son of Harold and Asthri (Myhre) Ostdahl. He was raised and educated at Palermo and graduated from Palermo High School in 1958. Following graduation he began employment with the Great Northern Railroad. Leonard was united in marriage to Marjorie Norstedt on November 2, 1958 in Stanley.

Leonard and Marjorie made their home in Stanley for two years. They moved to Minot in 1960, where he began a lifetime career as a painter, working many years for Hildahl Painting and Decorating. Leonard eventually purchased the business and entered into a business partnership with Sid Coffin. They owned and operated the business, known as Coffin and Ostdahl Painting until retirement.

Leonard was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, the Minot Eagles Aerie, Elks Lodge and Moose Club. He was also a member of the Minot Gun Club and enjoyed fishing, golfing, archery, shooting at the rifle range and camping. Most importantly, Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family.

His loving family includes , wife of 55 years, Marjorie; daughter, Tami (Larry) Spiros, Minot; son, Tim Ostdahl, Parker, CO, son in law, Larry Johnson, Minot; sister, Vivian (Doug) Grinolds, Craig, CO; sister in law, Edna Ostdahl, Stanley; 8 grandchildren to include, Nick, Kyle and Sydney Spiros, Drew and Lucas Johnson, Grayson, Quinton and Sterling Ostdahl; along with several nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Teri Johnson, infant twin sister, Lillian, along with his brothers, Larry, Alvin and Clarence and sisters, Avis, Nellie, Ruth, Verna and Mildred.

Funeral service: Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred to Vincent United Methodist Church Foundation, Minot or donor's choice.
