Leonard Walter Ost , 87, Minot, formerly of Powell, WY and Beulah, ND, passed peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

Leonard was born September 27, 1935 in Beulah, ND, the youngest son to Adam and Emma (Mittlestadt) Ost. He graduated from Beulah High School in 1954. Following graduation he honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and then retiring from the U.S. Army Reserves.

He married Berna Brown in December of 1972 in Cheyenne, WY. They moved to Deaver, WY where he pursued his love of agriculture and ranching. Ten years later, they moved to Glen Ullin, ND and continued farming until selling in 1990 and moving to a farm in Powell, WY. They retired from farming in 2005 and moved into town where they built a house. In 2021, they moved to Minot, ND to be closer to family.

Leonard enjoyed woodworking, rock collecting, studying geology and being around animals, especially cats.

Leonard is survived by his wife Berna Loy Ost, Minot, stepson Landy (Sally) Brown, Minot and 3 grandchildren, Kalvin Brown (Melody Hanson), Minot, McKenna Brown, Minot and Gerald Brown, West Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald Ost.
