Obituary

Leo Marcy Jr. , 60, Minot, died Friday, January 22, 2016, in a Minot hospital.

Leo Wells Marcy Jr. was born on July 16, 1955, in Minot, ND to Leo and Dorothy (Strom) Marcy. He graduated from Minot High School in 1973.

At the age of seventeen and in his father's footsteps, Leo began his lifelong career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He worked first as a bus driver taking responsibility for getting the employees to Gavin Yard and other destinations until he joined the track maintenance division working his way through various positions that included foreman. Leo retired in August of 2015 after 43 years of loyal service to the railroad.

Leo was once married to Donna Solberg on August 29, 1987, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. They lived in Minot and were blessed with the birth of two sons, Dallas and Cody.

Some of Leo's hobbies and enjoyments included going to Lake Metigoshe, which often involved fishing with his family and friends. He was a devoted Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan, sharing a love of baseball and football with his sons. One treasured memory was their trip to Minneapolis, where Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings dominated his son Dallas' Cowboys 33-3, offering Leo bragging rights for the rest of that season. Leo cherished the time he spent with his family, which often included bowling and swimming with his boys in their youth. Traveling was also one of his favorite pass times, Las Vegas and Deadwood being two of his favorite destinations. He will be forever missed for his devotion to his family, friends and career.

Leo's loving family include sons, Dallas (Carissa) Marcy and Cody Marcy both of Minot; granddaughter, Carmyn Rogers, Minot; sisters, Vicki (Leon) Vollmer and their son, Adrienne Vollmer, all of Minot and Vivian (Richard Goodnight) Marcy, Atlanta, GA; brother, Dean (Jan Morgan-Pless) Marcy, Atlanta, GA; uncle, Paul Strom, Crosby; aunt Gloria Marcy, Williston and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
