Leo W. Grueneberg, 82, Minot, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Leo was born October 7, 1925 on the family farm in Waterford Township of Ward County, North Dakota, the son of Emil and Martha (Bartz) Grueneberg.
He was raised on the family farm north of Minot, and was educated at country schools in that area. He assisted with the operation of the farm during his younger years, and was united in marriage to Mary Coate on June 15, 1949 at Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Minot.
They made their home in Minot, where he was employed with Bridgeman Creamery from 1963 until the mid 1980's when he retired. He has been a resident of Trinity Homes since 2004.
Leo was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, where he served as an usher and church elder. He was a member of the local Teamster's Union and was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Upham. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with Mary.
Leo is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary; Sisters: Margaret New, Seaman, OH and Alma Valgren, Minot; A number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernhard, Robert and Arnold and infant twin-sister: Leona.
Funeral service
: Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Tuesday
from 2:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
