Lenore
Hoover
July 29, 1927 – June 13, 2025
Long time resident of Minot Lenore Hoover , 97, died Friday, June 13, 2025 in a Crookston, MN memory care facility. She had lived in her own home in Minot until a year before her death.
Lenore Ruth Rennick was born on July 29, 1927 to William Russell Rennick II and Gudrun Hjordis (Amundson) Rennick near Dunseith, ND. She was raised and educated in Dunseith, graduating from Dunseith High School in 1945.
Lenore began nursing school in Rugby, and later transferred to Minot State College and Trinity hospital. She married Leslie J. Hoover on May 17, 1946 in Minot. They lived in Anamoose and Harvey before making their home in Minot since 1950. Lenore and Les were blessed with two daughters, Marise and Lenette.
As a young adult new to Minot she "waited tables" for Charlie's Restaurant and the LaPlaza restaurant and worked for the Minot Daily News as a proof reader. After marrying Les, she enjoyed working as a dental assistant for several years for Dr. Ray Bergum, DDS.
Lenore was employed at Northwest Clinic and Trinity Hospital for 30 years as a Medical Secretary, doing admissions, discharges, and processing patient insurance. Lenore was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aide and she taught Sunday school and VBS; she was also a member of the Ward County Homemakers and Washington Elementary School PTA. Several 70+ year old residents of Minot still remember her "Room Mother" treats from their Washington School Days.
Lenore loved spending time at her lake cabin on Lake Metigoshe and enjoyed downhill skiing, cross country skiing, gardening, yard work, traveling, berry picking and bird watching. She loved the Turtle Mountains in any season.
Lenore is survived by her two daughters Marise Jacobs of Lake Metigoshe, ND and Lenette (John Brauer) Hoover of Wausau, WI; 5 grandchildren: Derek (Elizabeth) Jacobs, and Nic (Dana) Jacobs, Karl Brauer (Jacqueline Nelson), Neil Brauer (Alina Beltrami), and Evan Brauer; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Mason and Riker Jacobs, Hans and Genevieve Brauer. She is also survived by her dearly loved nieces.
Lenore was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Hoover who passed away just one day before their 47th anniversary; her dear sister Irene Fassett, and virtually every other relative and friend of her generation.
Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot is in care of cremation arrangements. The family will gather at a later date to finalize interment.
