Lenora Edith (Duchscherer) Kraft , 65, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Minot, died Feb 3, 2015 in her home with her two daughters by her side.
Lenora was born on June 23, 1949 in Rugby, ND to Rockus and Catherine (Merck) Duchscherer. She joined two older sisters, Marie Frye and Elizabeth Norris.
Lenora and her family moved to Helena, MT when she was two. She was raised and educated there until she graduated from Whitefish High School in 1967. She attended Maddio's Beauty College in Helena, MT and graduated in 1968. She worked for 1 year in Helena and then earned her cosmetology and manager license. She won 3rd place in a hair competition.
Lenora married Cliff Johnston in 1974. Lenora and Cliff welcomed a daughter, Chantia adding to their family along with a loved stepdaughter, Tawnia. During this time she owned and operated her own salon, "Foxie Lady" in Montana for four years. She moved to Oregon and became a beauty school instructor and earned her barber's license. Lenora lived and worked in Oregon in the cosmetology industry for two years.
She was united in marriage to Bruce Kraft in 1988. They welcomed two beautiful daughters, Cassandra and Elizabeth. She was employed at the Minot Daily News for 10 years as a classified advertising specialist. She attended Minot State University where she majored in English. Lenora was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Lenora received a liver transplant in 2002. In her free time she loved to shop. Quiet times at home were spent reading and doing crossword puzzles. She loved to dance and always tried to live her life to the fullest. Above all, she loved to travel. In 2013, she fulfilled a lifelong dream when she traveled to Germany and Paris. Recently, she was able to travel to Hawaii and made several trips to Montana over the last few years.
Lenora is survived by her two daughters, Chantia (Kelly) McMonagle, Fargo, ND and Cassandra Kraft (Shawn Bondly), Fargo, ND; grandchildren Taniel, Sean, and Lauryn; sisters, Marie Frye, Minot, ND and Elizabeth Norris, Huntsville, AL and a several nieces and nephews.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce Kraft, daughter, Elizabeth Kraft, step-daughter, Tawnia Johnston and mother-in-law, Lois Kraft.
Mass of Christian Burial:
2:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service:
7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND (later in Spring 2015)
There will be no reviewal, however, family and friends are invited to sign the memorial register book on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
