Leland James McCloud, 69, of Dunseith passed into Eternity on October 19, 2018 in Minot, ND.
Leland was born in Bottineau, ND on November 1, 1948 to Collin and Mable (Houle) McCloud. His early years were spent in the McCloud home at Lake Metigoshe. Later he lived in Bottineau, Dunseith and Belcourt where he attended school.
His work career was varied, starting with the Belcourt Tribal Center in the Financial Department. Later, he was a barman in many of the local establishments.
His joy of life was his Bingo connection with the community through the radio station KEYA Bonanza Bingo Hotline. This was his calling and he will long be remembered for it. How many times have you heard "Are You Ready?"
Leland was an excellent guitarist, he could 'jam' with the best of them, and his voice was outstanding. His musical talent was developed at home with family 'jam' sessions with his father, uncles and brothers at family gatherings. When he walked into KARAOKE, everyone wanted to hear his favorite song, "North to Alaska".
Leland had a large family that not only included blood relatives but the many friends he had made over the years. He will be greatly missed.
Leland is survived by his loving family, Siblings, Ernest (Sally) McCloud, Peter McCloud, Sylvia Haakenson, Donna (Kenneth) Johnson, Clayton (Marilyn) McCloud, Clinton McCloud, Kenneth McCloud, Bonnie McCloud, Dale McCloud, Collin (Germaine) McCloud Jr., Colleen (Arthur) Cartwright, Byron (Lynn) McCloud, Kevin (Luella) McCloud and Ann (Tom) Cartwright; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents Collin and Mable (Houle) McCloud, toddler sister Viola and sister Shirley.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, November 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Dunseith.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, rural Dunseith.
