LaVonne Hornberger, 73, Berthold, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in a family home.

LaVonne was born August 21, 1949 in Minot, ND to Delwin and Ruth (Trondson) Deaver. She called Shealy Township of Ward County home during her years as a child and graduated from Berthold High School in 1967. She attended Jack's Beauty School in Minot.

LaVonne was united in marriage to Kenneth Hornberger on February 21, 1969 in Berthold. They made their home on a farm in Mandan Township near Berthold.

LaVonne owned and operated the Kountry Kurl Beauty Shop in Berthold for many years and later took her talents of caring for people to Trinity Homes in Minot working as a certified nursing assistant. She concluded her working years at the Berthold School serving as a cook until her retirement.

LaVonne was a member of the Berthold Baptist Church, where she was active in Bible study and a trusted member of the congregation to help in any capacity needed within the church. LaVonne was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. She was part of a local book club for many years. LaVonne continued the family tradition of being an excellent cook and baker, providing meals and goodies to her family and friends. She was known to always have a fresh coat of paint on her walls at home because it made it 'feel so clean' in her words. If you were leaving town with LaVonne, there was always time to stop for her favorite Dairy Queen treat for the ride home.

Grandma Bon will be remembered for her unconditional love of family. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren were her entire world and she treasured time spent supporting all their activities. She wasn't just Grandma Bon to her family, LaVonne was Grandma to many kids in the community that she impacted through Jesus and Me (JAM) on Wednesdays at the church and through her daughter's daycare. She will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in her life.

LaVonne is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth, Berthold; children Travis (Bonita) Hornberger, Blaisdell, ND, Wade (Wendy) Hornberger, Berthold, ND, Jana (Andy) Elberg, Berthold, ND and Breann (Monte) Lund, Ross, ND; grandchildren Bailey (Wade) Bosley, Hannah (Reiley Steier) Hornberger and Clancy Hornberger; Kara and Colby Hornberger; Delaney, Emma, Dru and Axel Elberg; Molly, Owen and Briggs Lund; great-grandchildren Mila Bosley and baby Steier (expected very soon); sisters Linda (Glenn) Stockdill, Garrison, ND, Lori (Panch) Harshaw, Berthold and Leanne (Mark) Brossart, Minot; brother Danny (Debbie) Deaver, Berthold, ND; sister-in-law Jacki Deaver, Berthold, ND along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dennis Deaver.

Visitation: Monday, October 31, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Berthold Baptist Church with a Public Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the church.

Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND
In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred to Berthold Baptist Church or Berthold Senior Citizens.
