Lavile Stip, 85, Minot, died Monday, April 9, 2018, in a Minot hospital.
Lavile Adelle Stip was born September 10th, 1932 in Drake, ND to Henry and Florentina (Priester) Marzolf. She was educated in Drake until her family moved to Minot in 1942 where she continued her education and attended Minot High School.
She married Ray Stip September 12th, 1949 at First Baptist Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot, living for more than 50 years in Green Valley on Souris Drive.
She was at one time a member of the Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. 1089 of Minot and was also a participant in bowling leagues.
Her hobbies included gardening, reading, Sudoku puzzles, various crafts, and watching classic movie channels. She also loved cooking and baking.
At Christmastime the house was always decorated. She made three framed Kings and three handmade carolers that were ribbon winners at the North Dakota State Fair and were fixtures among her decorations for decades. Blessed be the memory of Lavile Stip.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florentina, her husband of 66 years, Ray, daughter Gennie Loken, daughter-in-law Karen Stip, and all 12 siblings; including Katherina, Christian, and Boysie Marzolf, Leone Hannaford, Edna Bradley, Wilmer (Pedro) Marzolf, Esther Peterson, Lillian Knuth, Arnold Marzolf, Neoma (Cissy) Hampton, Emma Vix and Violet Trihub, and brothers-in-law Clyde Bradley, Ed Hampton, Art Hannaford, Alvin Knuth, James Peterson, Al Trihub and Art Vix.
She is survived by two sons, John Henry and Douglas Brian (Mary) Stip, both Minot, son-in-law Myron (Mike) Loken, Belle Fourche, South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Joanne Marzolf, Elma, WA, six grandchildren, Amy (Devin) Billings, Keith and Randy Stip and Lisa Loken, all Minot; Kelly (Eric) Ostdahl, Stanley, ND, and Laura Loken of Nashville, TN; one great-grandson, Briggs Isaiah and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home in Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, donations may be made in Lavile's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
