Laurice "Lori" Caswell, 62, Rural Minot, died Monday, August 22, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 8 - month battle with cancer.
Laurice Lynn Aldinger was born August 14, 1949 at Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Otto and Marcella (Danks) Aldinger. She was raised in Coleharbor and attended grade school there, graduating from Underwood High School in 1968.
Lori continued her education at University of Mary where she received a bachelor's degree in social work. Lori was employed as a social worker for the State of North Dakota for more than twenty-seven years; last position was at the North Central Human Service Center in Minot. Laurice was also the major stockholder of AIS Equipment Inc. of North Dakota with Dan, where she served as president of the company since 1999.
She was married to Chester Smith and from this union they had two sons, Richard and Michael.
Lori was married to Dan Caswell who also had 2 children; Ashley and Cole. Laurice and Dan had a son, Alex. They have spent the last twenty-nine years together.
Lori was an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes. She was also a member of the Magic City Antique Car Club where she was serving as Secretary, and Dakota Cruisers car club. She loved cats, especially Ragdoll cats; also roses and traveling. Lori also loved auction sales, and collected many antique angels, teacups and other collectible glassware. She was very enthusiastic about her heritage; and has a large collection of history, Indian dolls and artifacts.
Her loving family includes: husband Dan Caswell, rural Minot; children: Richard Smith, Dallas, TX ; Michael Smith, Bismarck; and Alex Caswell, Minot; stepchildren: Ashley McCarthy , Missouri and Cole Strietzel, Bismarck; daughter-in-law Cara with grandchildren Ben and Amanda Pester of Moorhead, MN; mother Marcella Aldinger of Bismarck; siblings: Viola (Frank) Heinz, Marcy Seibold, all of Bismarck; John (Pat) Aldinger, Rodgers, MN; Otto (Deb) Aldinger, Arlene Malnourie and Arty Aldinger, all of Underwood; David (Sue) Aldinger, Coleharbor; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her father Otto and several aunts, uncles and cousins preceded Lori in death.
Funeral service:
Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood.
Interment:
Coleharbor Cemetery, rural Coleharbor, ND.
Visitation: F
riday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot with a public prayer service in the funeral home Friday at 8:00 p.m.
Memorials are preferred to St John's Lutheran Church of Underwood, the Coleharbor Cemetery or the Coleharbor Park.
