Obituary

Larry Gordon Rayburn, 53, Deering, died Monday, September 8, 2008 in a Minot hospital.

Larry was born on January 11, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to Edward and Glenna Rayburn. He was raised in La Follette, TN and Indiana. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 5, 1979. Larry achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Strategic Aircraft Maintenance Technician.

Larry was united in marriage to Elizabeth Cooper on August 15, 1984 in Altus, OK. They made their home in Warner Robbins, GA and Altus, OK until moving to Minot in 1986 where he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force and was discharged from active duty August 12, 1992. Larry was employed at various places in Minot until ill health forced him to retire in 1996.

Larry was a member of the NRA, Minot Rifle and Pistol Club, and Deering Baptist Church where he also served as church organist. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, woodworking, gunsmithing, reloading, playing the organ, and playing with his dogs.

Larry's loving family includes his wife of 24 years: Elizabeth "Libby" ; children: Mary (Keith) Sweazy, Greensboro, GA, Debra (fiancé Bill) Rayburn, Centerville, GA, Angel (Michael) Dailey, Lansford, Joseph Rayburn, Deering, Gabriel (Zora) Cooper, Ruthville, and Tammy Devitt, Minot; grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, Jacob, Jessie, Edward, Charlie, Lily, Tyler, Devon, Tristan, Johnathon, Kiera, and Logan; Sisters: Jamie Rayburn, Minot, and Missy Irving, Lafollett, TN; Brother: Charles Rayburn, Raleigh, NC and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside Service: Monday, September 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park.
Visitation:
Monday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to the Minot Rifle and Pistol Club.
