Obituary

Ret. MSgt. Larry Morser , 58, Minot died Friday, December 16, 2011 in his home.

Larry Joseph Morser was born at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas on October 11, 1953, the firstborn son of USAF Captain Donald W. and Mary Jo (McKay) Morser. As a boy Larry and the rest of his family moved many times, following his father's assignments. He grew up in Texas, Japan, England, California, and following his father's retirement, Pennsylvania.

Larry and his five brothers and sisters were raised by his mother and grandmother in Uniontown, PA. Active in Scouting, Larry attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was a counselor at Camp Conestoga for two summers. He graduated from St. John Roman Catholic High School in 1971 and attended college at Penn State. During this time he met the love of his life, Vanessa R. Crawford. Larry and Vanessa were united in marriage on October 1, 1972. One month later, Larry enlisted in the US Air Force, beginning a long and distinguished career in the Security Forces field. Together Larry and Vanessa faced life's challenges as they lived at Lackland AFB, TX, Beale AFB, CA, RAF Lakenheath, England, FE Warren AFB, WY, Wueschheim AS, Germany and Minot AFB, ND. Larry was also stationed at a 1-year remote assignment at Araxos AB, Greece.

While still very young, Larry and Vanessa had four children while traveling the world Michael, born in Texas, E. Scott, born in Pennsylvania, Jennifer and Heather, both born in California. Larry graduated from college while in Germany, earning a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Maryland. In 1988, Larry and his family arrived at Minot AFB, ND, and immediately bought a house in town. After serving his country for 23 years, Larry honorably retired from the USAF on October 31, 1995.

After a 6-month stint with the US Post Office and another 6-month period working for Rollie Port Investigations, Larry was hired by Rochester Armored Car Co. Minot. Several months later, Larry was personally selected by the company president to take over as manager of the Minot branch, a position he held with honor and integrity for more than 13 years, until his health forced him to resign in 2010. As manager, Larry oversaw many improvements and growth in service, equipment, communication and personnel. For four consecutive years he and the Minot branch achieved membership in the "20 Percent Club", reserved for those special branches who earned 20% or more in overall annual profit.

Second only to being a devoted husband and proud father, Larry's main passion in life was hunting, especially for whitetail and mule deer. Seeking simplicity and purity of the sport, his weapon of choice was the recurve bow, though he also enjoyed hunting with muzzleloader and rifle, and looked forward each year to his annual campout and hunt in the Badlands. Larry was a very avid and successful hunter, and his children and grandchildren looked forward to Christmas every year for the homemade venison jerky he gave as gifts.

Larry is survived by his sons, Michael Morser, Malta, MT, E. Scott Morser, currently stationed in upstate NY, his daughters Jennifer Lindsey, Bellevue, NE and Heather Malone, Minot; grandchildren Ashlynn and Megan Morser, Sierra and Kylee Morser, Alesha, Heidi, Joseph and Jeremy Lindsey and Adele, Victoria, and Mercedes Malone; mother, Mary Jo Morser, VA, sisters, Diane Boydstun, CA, Bonnie Murphy, VA, Eileen Hunt, TX, Suzanne Williams, VA; brother, D. Scott Morser, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Vanessa, in January 2010 and by his father.
