Obituary

Larry Leon Beeter, 77, Minot and formerly of the Sawyer area died on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born April 7, 1939, in Minot, ND to Leon and Marie (Ross) Beeter. He was reared and educated in the Minot, Logan, Velva and Sawyer areas.

Larry married Mary Johnson October 6, 1956 in Plentywood, MT. This union was blessed with seven children. They made their home in Minot. Mary passed away August 17, 1992.

As a young adult, Larry was employed by Stredwick Lathing. He also owned and operated an implement dealership in New Town, ND. Larry began at L.E. Beeter & Company, where he worked with his parents, brother and sister in the implement dealership. He established, with his sons Brian and Dennis, Larry Beeter & Sons Construction Company/ Quality Construction in 1972. This entity focused on general highway and oil field contracting for many years. Larry retired during the mid 1990's.

Larry married Alona 'Lonnie' Faul in 1994 and they made their home in Minot. Lonnie passed away May 12, 1995. Larry and Cheryl Vooge were joined in marriage December 8, 1995. This union was blessed with many grandchildren and memories they loved to share.

Larry was a member of Our Redeemer's Church. With his quick wit, a smile that would light up a room, and a laugh that you couldn't help but to join, Larry was truly the life of any party. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting with his kids and other family members or just getting in the pick-up and taking in the scenery. He had a passion for horses and spent countless hours at The Ranch where he rode and took care of his many horses over the years. One of his favorite traditions was getting the whole family together for barbecues at The Ranch where everyone could visit, ride 4-wheeler, and just have fun. If you saw the barn door up, you could more than likely find Larry working with the horses or sitting back to relax in the place he loved so much. Larry enjoyed playing baseball as a child and continued to be a lifelong fan of the game, cheering on the Minnesota Twins throughout all the ups and downs. If you visited Larry at home, there was a good chance you'd catch him with an Old Western movie on the television, and if you're lucky, maybe even a ham, cheese, and strawberry preserves sandwich. Larry enjoyed the country side of life be it country music, rodeos, western books and straight talk. He loved to travel and always seemed to know the best restaurants and places to explore. Arizona was one of his favorite places, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Larry was a devoted family man and will forever be missed by all who called him a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.
