Lannie Kunkel, 86, Minot, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, in his home.

Lannie was born May 11, 1932, in Minot, North Dakota to J.R. 'Dutch' and Orvetta (LaValley) Kunkel.  He spent his youth in Minot and was a graduate of Minot High School in 1950.

Lannie was united in marriage to M. Eline Benton on August 1, 1952 in Minot.  They were blessed with two daughters and have called Minot their lifelong home.

Lannie spent his working years at Nash Finch working as a truck driver and completed his 31 year career as shop foreman.  He operated a ranch located in the sandhills south of Denbigh, ND.

Lannie enjoyed hunting waterfowl and deer for many years with his family and friends.  He will be missed by all who shared in his life.

Lannie is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eline, Minot; daughters, Debbie (Pat) Sheldon and Nancy (Mike) Kramer, both of Minot; grandchildren, Melissa (Ben) Whitsett, Austin, TX and Patrick (Shanda Cool) Sheldon, Minot, ND; great-granddaughter, Mira Sheldon; sister, Orvetta Andreson, Minot along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lannie was preceded in death by his infant sister, parents and brother-in-law, Loren Andreson.

A memorial book signing will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
A private family interment will be held at Rosehill Cemetery, rural Norwich, ND
