Obituary

Lane LeRoy Jacobson , 70, Minot and formerly of rural Douglas, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 in a Bismarck hospital.

Lane was born December 11, 1938 in Minot, ND to Joseph and Joette (Hartgrove) Jacobson. He was reared on the family farm near Rice Lake and attended elementary school in a one-room school in Vang Township. Lane played basketball for Douglas High School and graduated from there in 1958.

Lane married Audrey Ellwein on July 10, 1960. They made their home in Minot where Lane was employed by Gamble Robinson from 1960 to 1974 and at Midwest Motor Express from 1974 to 1981. He worked as a custodial engineer for the Minot Public Schools from 1981 until he retired in 1989. Most recently, he had been self employed driving fresh fruit, especially peaches, from the orchards to the Minot area.

Lane was a former member of the Eagles Aerie and a current member of the Moose Lodge both in Minot. He was proud to have earned numerous safe driving awards as a truck driver. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

Lane's survivors include his wife of 48 years, Audrey; children: Carmen (Duane) Haugen, Minot; Scott (Tammy) Jacobson, Saugus, CA; and Candice (Paul) Heskin, Savage, MN; grandchildren: Mathew Haugen, Overland Park, KS, Samantha Haugen, Minot, Tara Jacobson, Colorado Springs, CO, Katelyn and Connor Jacobson, both of Saugus, CA, and Sarah and Marshall Heskin, both of Savage, MN; sisters: Mary (Roy) Abrahamson, Plaza and Marvel (James) Bakken, Minot; and brothers: Roger (Karen) Jacobson, Stanton and David (Linda) Jacobson, Minot as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lane was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral service : Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation
: Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
