Obituary

L. Louise Rostberg , 95, Louisville, CO, formerly of Minot, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in a Louisville assisted living center.

Louise was born April 8, 1916, in Hettinger, North Dakota, the daughter of Theodore and Molly (Brown) Lokken. She was delighted in her family of nine brothers and sisters. Louise was raised and educated in Hettinger, graduating from High School in 1934. She attended college at Mayville State, the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and North Dakota State University of Fargo.

Louise was united in marriage to Benard Rostberg in 1939. Her teaching journey spanning nearly 39 years led her to children in Caledona, Finley, Larimore, Logan Center, and Eureka Township of Ward County, near Burlington, North Dakota. In addition to her career, she assisted Ben with the ownership and operation of 3 restaurants during a span of 10 years in Larimore and McVille, following World War II. As a family, they settled in Minot. She concluded her professional career in education with retirement in 1976. Benard passed away in 1973.

Louise carried memberships to First Lutheran Church, including involvement in its church circle, Eagles Aerie, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Retired Teacher's Group, all of Minot. She was a past member of the Federated Study Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, both of Larimore, ND.

She moved to Colorado in 2009 to be near family and later became a resident of Juniper Village Assisted Living Center in Louisville, CO.

Life enjoyment was found in her family, spending time at their cabin on Lake Sakakawea, reading, and going to art events at Minot State University.

Her loving family includes daughter, Laural (Gene) Anderson, Broomfield, CO; grandchildren, Terra Hammon, Kari Fritz, John Kimmey, Keirsten Thomas and Edward Thomas; great-grandchildren, Abby Hammon, Lindsay Hammon, Jesse Hammon, Kylie Wilson, Kolton Wilson, Tucker Tokach, Tristan Tokach, Hana Kimmey, Kaya Kimmey, Sol Fritz and Will Fritz.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Benard, and daughter, Laurene.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation: Tuesday, May 10, from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: Preferred to the First Lutheran Church Radio Fund, or to an organization of the donor's choice to help children.
