Kevin Mark Sys, 50, Sawyer died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from injuries sustained in a truck train accident in Sawyer.

Kevin was born on March 14, 1962 in Minot to Ronald and Claire (Tanner) Sys. He was reared on a farm south of Sawyer in Willis Township of Ward County. Kevin attended school at Sawyer, was confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church, graduated from Sawyer High School in 1980 and received specialized training in Farm and Ranch Management at Bismarck Junior College.

Kevin married Sandra Faul on April 9, 1988 at the Sawyer Mennonite Brethren Church. They made their home in Minot until July of 1992 when they moved to Sawyer. Kevin had farmed for many years until 2007 when he accepted a fulltime truck driving position with Earthmovers/Strata. In addition, he had driven a school and activity bus for the Sawyer Public School for ten years.

Kevin was a member of the Sawyer Fire Department and a former member of the Sawyer Lions Club. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Kevin's loving family includes his wife of almost 24 years Sandy; children: Kyle Sys of Bismarck and Amanda Sys, a student at NDSU in Fargo; parents: Ron and Claire Sys of Minot; brothers: Gary (Nan) Sys of Douglas and Scott (Tracey) Sys of Sawyer; sister: Lorie (Chad) Morris of Forks, WA; mother-in-law: Elizabeth Faul of Minot; sister-in-law: Susan (Scott) Raybourn of Santa Ana CA; nieces and nephews: Christopher (Rusti), Derek (Jen), Ryan, Lindsey, Mason, Megan, Matthew, Taylor, Collin, Christian (Megan), Amy, Deanne and Thomas.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Reuben Faul and grandparents: Joe and Myrtle Sys and Dale and Emma Tanner.

Funeral Service: Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sawyer School Auditorium.

Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.

Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Eagles Wings Church Flood Recovery Fund or to the donor's choice.
