Kevin John Oen , 53, Minot, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 in a Minot Nursing Care Center.

Kevin was born December 8, 1955 in Denver, CO, the son of Albert and Doris (Alger) Oen. He moved with his family at an early age and was raised on the Oen Farm in Afton Township of Ward County, where he loved to shadow his Grandpa Oen, whom he called, Peep, Peep.

He graduated from Minot High School, Magic City Campus in 1974.

Throughout the years, he was employed with the Rob Novak Dairy farm for several years, and then with Sears as a mechanic for seventeen years. He was employed with Tires Plus for five years and later for Alley's Radiator for seven years. He received special certification to work as a mechanic for the City of Minot, where he has been employed the past five years, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, (Glioblastoma) and forced to retire.

Kevin was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and the Minot Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a member of a Harley Davidson motorcycle group that traveled to Sturgis, SD every year and had had a Charity ride at the Oen farm, that over 400 motorcyclists participated in.

Kevin enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends, along with Kayaking, photography and collecting rifles. He was a friend to Bill W.

His loving family includes : mother, Doris Oen, Minot; father, Albert Oen, Surrey, ND; Brother, Michael (Echo) Oen, New Hope, MN; nephews, Shawn (Joan) Oen and daughter, Savanaha, Kyle (Christina) Oen and their children Connor and Emma, several aunts, uncles and cousins. His special friend, Kathy Olson and her family, along with his dog, Boomer.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents: William and Rosie Alger and Gilbert and Clara Oen; Aunt, Margaret Benson and Uncle, Arnold Alger.

Funeral service: Monday, September 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday from noon - 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran or the American Diabetes Association
