Kevin Lester Gutknecht, 56, Minot died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in a Minot healthcare center.
Kevin was born on August 28, 1958 in Hazen, ND to William and Genevieve (Bowers) Gutknecht. He was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1977. Kevin was once married to Sherry Storbeck and they were the proud parents of Cody, Bryce and Summer. They made their home in Minot where Kevin was employed in various management positions at the following grocery stores which changed names and ownership but Kevin was a constant in management at: Barlow's, Miracle Mart and Marketplace Foods until 2011. Kevin married Christie Scott on June 24, 1995 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. Most recently, Kevin was employed at Food Pride in Stanley and Coburn's /Cash Wise Foods. He retired as the assistant liquor store manager earlier this year. He had received an Eagle Award for superior customer service in 2006.
Kevin's number one priority when it came to his free time was his family. Also, he enjoyed movies, Sudoku, word find puzzles, gardening and lawn care and travel especially to warm weather destinations.
Kevin's loving family includes his wife of almost 20 years: Christie; children: Cody of Minot, Bryce of Velva and Summer of Dilworth; grandchildren: Kayden Kevin Gutknecht and Quincy Michael Lynn Schuler; siblings: Lona (Glenn) Olson of Billings MT and Kim (Jane) Gutknecht of Washburn and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Celebration of the Life of Kevin Gutknecht: Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
Visitation: Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
