Obituary

Kermit Sundre Mostad, 84, rural Minot, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 in a Minot nursing home.

Kermit was born January 11, 1926 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Alfred and Anna (Sundre) Mostad. He was educated at Bell School and graduated from Minot High School in 1943. During his younger years, he farmed near Logan on the family farmstead.

Kermit was united in marriage to M. Deloris Alm on May 12, 1947 at Sidney, Montana. They made their home in rural Minot. He began employment with Northern States Power Company (NSP) in 1953, as a foreman for the coal handling operation at the Minot Steam Plant and Bison Plant. He transferred with the company to Minnesota in 1973, where he was involved with the coal handling operation at the Sherco Plant in Becker, MN. He retired in 1985 from Xcel Energy, and they returned to Minot. Deloris died July 22, 2002.

Kermit was a longtime member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Farm Bureau and American Radio Relay League with duties of relaying messages from overseas military personnel from airways to telephone during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed flying, woodworking and was an amateur Ham radio operator.

His loving family includes: children: James (Pamela) Mostad, Gerald (Linda) Mostad, Mary Ann (Dennis) Rowe, all of Minot and Gloria (James) Stables, Potomac, MD; Grandchildren: Gerg (Melissa) Mostad, Dan (Shannon) Mostad, Sarah (Michael) Buino, Anne (Kevin) Dahmen, Margaret (Eamon) Kuklok, Joseph Mostad, John Rowe, Kristin Rowe, Patrick Stables, Scott Stables, Annaka Stables, Michaela (Joe) Schirado, Jeremy Fettig; Great-Grandchildren: Josie and Bode Mostad, Abigail, John, Alexander and Katherine Dahmen, Seamus and Kiera Kuklok; two Step-Grandchildren; eight Great-Grandchildren; sister, Elaine Jacobson, Finley, ND; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Deloris, and son, Rolland.

Funeral service: Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot.
