Kenneth William Zamzow was the second child born to Christian and Katherine Zamzow on May 18, 1940. He was born and baptized on the family farm north of Churchbridge, SK. At the age of eight, the family moved to Runnymede, SK where they ran a general store. Ken was twelve years old when he became ill with polio. He was confirmed at the Runnymede Lutheran Church. In 1959, he graduated from the Kamsack Collegiate. He attended the Manitoba Teacher's College, and enjoyed teaching as well as being a principal in Manitoba. Later he worked as an insurance agent. Ken always dreamed of being a farmer; when the opportunity arose, he purchased a farm near Churchbridge, SK. He also worked at the Potash Mine by Esterhazy for thirty years.
In 1964 Ken married Yvonne Jones. They had five children, James, Richard, Susan, Kathy, and Teresa. Ken was dedicated to imparting faith and love to his children and grandchildren.
Ken married Alma Feldmann on July 18, 1998 in Minot, ND. They lived in Churchbridge for one year before purchasing their current home in Yorkton, SK. Ken attended worship and Bible study at Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton where he was an Elder. Ken retired from the Potash Mine in 2004. Shortly after this, Ken and Alma became snowbirds to Hemet, CA; he enjoyed spending the winter snow free. He liked to swim, play cards and pool, and participated in most of the park's activities with the many friends he made. Ken and Alma became active at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hemet. Committed to service, he gave many hours to the Lutheran Braille Workers.
Ken is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Alma; children Jim (Shaunna) Zamzow of Saskatoon, SK, Richard (Glenda) Zamzow of Calgary, AB, Susan Saxon of Dinsmore, SK, Kathy Zamzow of Saskatoon, SK, and Teresa Zamzow of Calgary, AB; grandchildren Jasmine Saxon, Jordan Saxon, Mackenzie Saxon, Mack McKenzie, Marcus Zamzow, Derek Zamzow, and Justin Zamzow; sisters Myrtle (Carl) Bell of Moose Jaw, SK, Florence (Brian) Toth of Calgary, AB, and Pam (Chuck) Pachkowsky of Saskatoon, SK; step-daughters Shirley (Steve) Jensen of Long Beach, CA, and Lori (Rich) Garemore of Long Beach, CA; grandchildren Joshua Jensen, Daniel Jensen, and Elliot Jensen; nieces and nephew Kim Bell, Wendy Bell, Kent (Stephanie) Toth, Kylee (Ben) Ohler, and Ashley Pachkowsky; as well as his Aunt Minnie, and numerous cousins.
