Kenneth F. Kerzmann, 87, Minot, formerly of Garrison, ND, died on Thursday, September 25, 2008, in a Minot nursing home.
Kenneth was born August 31, 1921 to Anton and Josephine (Trost) Kerzmann. Ken received his education in Garrison, Parshall, and Blackwater Township while moving with his parents. Later he took over the family farm at Blackwater Township. Kenneth was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Rickers on June 8, 1948, in Lake Park, Minnesota. They returned to the farm where they raised their family. Kenneth was active in Farmers Union and 4-H. When Ken retired from farming in 1975, they moved to Garrison. While at Garrison, he served as custodian at St. Nicholas Catholic and Bob Callies Elementary Schools.
Kenneth was a former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. He was active with the Knights of Columbus attaining Fourth Degree Knight status. Ken and Evelyn moved to Minot in October 2003. Kenneth was an avid card player-whist, pinochle, international rummy, blitz and crazy canasta among his favorites. He spent countless hours playing solitaire having snacks within his reach. Aside from card playing, Ken enjoyed his yardwork, gardening, family together times and reminiscing.
Surviving family includes: wife of 60 years, Evelyn, Minot; children, Rod (Carol), Williston; Bill, Bismarck; Darrel (Mila), Minot; Claudia (Paul) Sharp, Jamestown; and, Connie (Robert) Lemieux, Minot; grandchildren include Brock (Gloria), Amy, Katie (Matt) Schlemper, and James; Jonathan and Andrew; Melody (Jason) Rivera and Randy (Lindsay); Nicholas, Jessica and Matthew Sharp; Jacob and Adam Lemieux; great grandchildren: Citlali and Keziah Kerzmann; Noelle and Ethan Rivera; Erin and Anna Kerzmann; brother, Anthony (Rose) Kerzmann, Garrison along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kenneth was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, 3 sisters and a brother.
Mass of Christian Burial
: Monday, September 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Recitation of the Rosary:
Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Interment:
St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Garrison, ND at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2008.
Visitation:
Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
